About Us
Rick, currently serves as a Lieutenant with the Travis County Sheriff's Office in Austin, Texas. Since 1986 he has commanded various units to include: Central Command, directing Homicide, SWAT, White Collar Crime, Family Violence, Child Abuse, Intelligence, Crime Lab, 911-Communications, Lake Patrol and Traffic operations. He is currently the Field Training Director.
Prior to coming to Travis County, Rick was a patrolman with Baytown, Texas PD and before that a Military Policeman in the US Army. His educational achievements include: BAAS degree from Midwestern State University, he is a Certified Public Manger, a Graduate of the FBI National Academy (197), a Graduate of the Leadership and Command College of Texas (23), and a past Adjunct Instructor with the Texas A&M University System (TEEX).
He is the author and administrator of the curriculum offered through this site. In particular the Field Training Program is now the standard for the state of Alabama and has been in use singularly by TCSO since its inception in 1992. The FTO course has become the instruction of choice for several agencies annually across Texas, including participants from across the nation.
Besides certifying FTO's and supervisors we have been asked to build programs from the ground up for many departments. It is not just the training we can do but also the program itself to include the forms, policies, and SOP's,
